DETROIT WATER AND SEWERAGE DEPARTMENT ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR December 6, 2004 Update One hundred-eight of 240 caissons have been installed in the sinkhole around the repair area. The caissons are being installed to a depth of 65-feet. Crews are excavating down to the interceptor. The excavation started east of the area to be repaired. So far, an area 70-feet long by 40-feet wide and 30-feet deep has been excavated. DWSD is making every effort to minimize the noise impact on the surrounding area while installing the caissons.
