DETROIT WATER AND SEWERAGE DEPARTMENT

ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR

November 29, 2004 Update

Ninety-two of 240 caissons have been installed in the sinkhole around the repair area. The caissons are being installed to a depth of 65-feet.

Crews have begun excavating down to the interceptor. The excavation started east of the area to be repaired. So far, an area 65-feet long by 40-feet wide and 19-feet deep has been excavated.

DWSD is making every effort to minimize the noise impact on the surrounding area while installing the caissons.
