ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR

November 12, 2004 Update

Work is continuing on installing the second steel bulkhead located to the west of the repair area. The bulkhead is approximately 40-percent done and is expected to be completed by mid-November.

Crews are removing a mixture of sand and sludge from the portion of the interceptor to be repaired.

Augers have drilled 39 holes for caissons. A total of 250 caissons will be installed in the sinkhole around the repair area. The caissons are being installed to a depth of 65-feet.

DWSD is making every effort to minimize the noise impact on the surrounding area while installing the caissons.
