ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR

September 30, 2004 Update

Installation of the two 36-inch bypasses is completed. One bypass was put into operation at 7 a.m. today. The second bypass is on standby until needed.

DWSD will now start installing bulkheads around the sinkhole to further isolate and stabilize the repair area. Once the area is completely stabilized, crews can begin digging down to the damaged portion of the interceptor.

Twelve dewatering wells are in service to remove ground water from around the site.

Crews are wetting the ground daily to control dust at the construction site.
