ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR

September 15, 2004 Update

Crews have completed the grouting of 18 columns on the east side of the damaged portion of interceptor, and 10 columns on the west side. These columns form a wall on either side to isolate the repair area.

Two suction shafts east of the repair area and one discharge shaft west of the area repair are in place. Grouting holes 53 – 60 deep are inserted around the discharge shaft to control water seepage in the shaft. The shafts extend down to the top of the interceptor. A diving team has begun cleaning debris from the bottom of the shafts and cutting thru steel and wood lagging boards that protect the 11-foot concrete sewer interceptor.

Concrete sidewalks were replaced at several homes near the site.
