ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR

March 24, 2005 Update

The Macomb Interceptor was put back in service on March 14, 2005.

The trench has been back-filled to a depth of 3-feet below road level. All fourteen dewatering wells have been decommissioned and dismantled.

Ninety percent of the two 36-inch temporary bypasses have been dismantled and removed from the site.

When the ground above the interceptor originally collapsed, there were two pipes located above the interceptor, a 12-inch sanitary sewer pipe and an 8-inch water main. The sanitary sewer pipe is back in service. Crews are the process of installing the water main.

The department has been monitoring homes south of the repair area once a week and has not detected any movement associated with the sinkhole repair.
