DETROIT WATER AND SEWERAGE DEPARTMENT
ROMEO ARM OF THE MACOMB SEWER INTERCEPTOR
March 18, 2005 Update
The Macomb Interceptor was put back in service on March 14, 2005.
The trench has been back-filled to a depth of 10-feet below road level. All fourteen dewatering wells have been decommissioned. Twelve wells have been dismantled.
When the ground above the interceptor originally collapsed, there were two pipes located above the interceptor, a 12-inch sanitary sewer pipe and an 8-inch water main. The sanitary sewer pipe is back in service.
The department has been monitoring homes south of the repair area once a week and has not detected any movement associated with the sinkhole repair.
