Customer Service Center Ceiling Mural Click on the smaller images within the mural for close-ups and more information.   The distinctive mural on the ceiling of the first floor customer service area was unveiled on October 1, 1928 when the Water Board Building was officially opened. It depicts symbols and events of significance to the City of Detroit and the Water and Sewerage Department. The mural was commissioned from the George Hamilton Thomas Studios for a cost of $10,000. With the exception of some touch-up work performed in the late 1980s, the mural that you see today is original. Click here to view the Water Board Builing page. back to Facilities
